Why Nutrigenomic Testing? Ask Yourself...

  • Do you currently take nutritional supplements?
  • Are you worried that the products you are taking will have no benefit and you are throwing away valuable dollars on unnecessary products?
  • Are side effects from your nutritional supplements a concern?

If you answered "YES" to any of the above questions, then the answer to your existing health problems or potential health issues could be a cheek swab away.

Genetic variants are more common than we realize:

  • More than 75% of all people have significant genetic variations (SNPs) in the most important nutritional metabolism pathways.
  • Millions of people expend their valuable income on nutritional supplements without knowledge or scientific proof of nutritional need or benefit.
  • Without genetic validation of enzyme function, many supplements are not effectively delivered at the cellular level, therefore, the patient can be wasting time and money with nutritional ingredients that have little to no benefit.

Nutrigenomics: Your Answer to Personalized Nutrition

Nutrigenomics is the study between nutrition and a person's genes. Nutritional genomics examines and analyzes how nutrients impact our genes, how our genes impact reactions to specific nutrients, and why our bodies may be struggling with detoxing or metabolizing.

One popular reason many have turned to nutrigenomics, and understanding their genetic weaknesses, is to optimize their nutrition, creating a path to better health. As a variety of products and advertisements have expressed, men and women are genetically different, even when consuming the same nutrients. Genomix Nutrition takes that logic many steps further, not categorizing nutrition or health by gender or large studies, but by a patient's genetic profile itself. Nutrigenomics can be applied to many health concerns, like recognizing high risk for certain diseases, or helping relieve chronic health issues. The results can be used to optimize your health in multiple aspects or alleviate the concerns someone may have with poor health or conditions that run in their family.

Genetic Testing with Actionable Findings

DNA testing for nutrition is simple with Genomix Nutrition. Our nutrigenomic test retrieves a DNA sample through swabbing the inside of the patients' cheek. No spitting into test tubes or blood samples required. Test results should be received within 10 business days. Many other genetic testing companies will provide patients with test results but no test analysis or recommendation. Genomix Nutrition's nutrigenomic report shares your results, descriptions of each key metabolic areas tested, analysis of your results, and dietary and supplementation recommendations based on your genetic results.

Genomix Nutrition firmly believes in finding the source of a health issue and treating it, rather than simply treating the symptoms. Genetic testing for nutrition gives patients the power to take control of their own body and how it functions. Wondering why your diet might not be helping you lose weight? Are you using trial and error to find the right supplements? Can't figure out why specific foods disrupt your digestion? Eliminate the guesswork: order DNA testing for nutrition today with Genomix Nutrition.

Supplements for Genetics - First, Understand YOUR Needs

It's difficult to know what your body needs when you don't know your body's shortcomings - i.e. when and where biochemical issues occur. Before purchasing any supplements, here are a few factors to consider.

Water-Soluble Vitamins versus Fat-Soluble Vitamins

There are two different types of vitamins: lipophobic (water-soluble) and lipophilic (fat-soluble). Some water-loving (lipophobic) vitamins include B Vitamins 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12, and Vitamin C. Some fat-loving (lipophilic) vitamins include Vitamins A, D, E, and K. Typically the body's cells are protected by fatty type of membranes like Omega-3 fatty acids. So, lipophilic vitamins would be more effective at penetrating cell membranes than lipophobic ones.

Another factor to consider when it comes to lipophobic and lipophilic vitamins is that lipophobic vitamins are easier to eliminate in waste. If a lipophobic vitamin reaches toxin levels in your body, it's less detrimental because it will eventually get flushed from your system. Since there's no easy way to "flush" fat, lipophilic vitamins are more difficult to eliminate from the system and cause more harm when present in toxic levels. These are just a few reasons why it's crucial to understand what is going on at the systemic and cellular level within your body before determining what genetic supplements are right for you.

Nutritional Delivery System - Excess Genetic Supplements Isn't Better

A supplement can only be utilized by the body if it reaches the cells. Vitamins needs to be transported from the bloodstream to the cell. Here an example: It's not uncommon to find extremely high levels of B12 or folic acid in someone's blood even if this person is not taking a B12 supplement. With folic acid specifically, there are seven biochemical steps that for folic acid to become methyl folate - the active form of folic acid that the body utilizes. In these cases, it's not uncommon that a patient is experiencing difficulty converting or properly going through those seven biochemical steps. Genetics can be a factor in these conversion difficulties and why the active form (methyl folate) is not reaching their cells.

Genetics can also be the reason why a person with a great healthy diet can still experience vitamin or mineral deficiencies. Their genes are not enabling the body to properly go through all the biochemical processes necessary for optimal functioning and health. The right genetic supplements in the right doses can help aid delivery or absorption issues such as these.
